Evolve From Nothing and Devolve Back to Nothing
Another excerpt from my May 2014 Commencement exhibition.
Poem was written by the artist, handmade paper using cotton rag and kaolin clay powder was made for the endsheets, hand-carved covers made of Cone 6 porcelain that has been single-fired, each letter was hand-cut by the artist on Canson paper, and the book was sewn together and produced in an Edition of 3 by the artist.
Are you as quiet as I am?
but never speaks
Am I as alone as I appear to be with your tides the only presence keeping me company?
I reached out to you
I reached out to myself
Where was I when you looked for me?
Where were you when you were gone?
Because of you I’m not empty anymore
But because of you I’m alone
Will I be forgotten, too?
We can be anything.
But will we?
